FAQs

Reach out to us on social media for anything we haven’t answered on our website

  • How do I adopt a Companion Animal?

All of our animals available for adoption are listed on our website in our Adopt section, and announced on our social media pages.

If you think you’ve found your perfect match, you can submit an application form via the below links:

    Cat Application Form

    Dog Application Form

We receive a high number of applications for each rescue animal, so please provide as much detail as possible on your form. Once submitted, you'll hear back from one of our volunteers regarding the status of your application.

Can’t find a suitable companion? We upload animals available for adoption weekly, so it’s best to keep an eye on our website and social media for the latest updates.

Please note, as we are a Foster-to-Adopt organisation, all our animals are in the care of their foster homes. We do not house any animals at our HQ in Marrickville.

  • How can I make a donation?

As a small animal rescue, Maggie’s is incredibly grateful for the ongoing generosity and support of our local community to help continue to enrich the lives of animals in our care.

To guide you in selecting the items that we are usually in need of, please see the below list:

    • Cat and dog food

    • Kitten formula

    • Flea and worming treatment

    • New or in good condition enrichment toys

    • Bowls

    • Litter trays

    • Scales (measured in grams)

    • Washed cat or dog beds

NB: We don’t accept blankets, towels or linen.

Donations are to be dropped off at our office in Marrickville’s Addison Road Community Centre please.

If you wish to make a monetary donation, please select the red ‘Donate Now’ button in the top right corner or here.

  • I would like to surrender my cat/dog. How can I do this through Maggie’s Rescue?

We’re sorry to hear you have to surrender your cat or dog, we understand it’s a difficult decision.

Maggie’s Rescue is a non-judgemental organisation who are here to help your animal find a foster carer, and ultimately a new home.

Our surrender forms allow us to better understand your animal. When you complete it, please provide as much information as you can:

    Surrender a Cat

    Surrender a Dog

Once submitted, our team of volunteers will be in contact with you for advice on next steps, and availability in our network.

For more information visit the Surrender section.

  • I've come across a stray cat, a litter of kittens, or a dog. How can I help them?

If you’ve come across a cat or kitten in the community, you can follow the steps on our Stray Cats section to help keep them safe.

Once you are confident you need our help, then please fill in our online Stray Enquiry Form, so we can see if we have a suitable home for them in our network.

Once submitted, our team of volunteers will be in touch with advice on how we can best assist you.

If you’ve found a stray dog you can fill in the same form for advice or contact your local veterinarian or council for assistance and to check for a microchip.

  • I'm interested in becoming a Foster Carer/Volunteer. How do I sign up?

Foster Carers and Volunteers are an essential part of our organisation!

We’re always on the lookout for reliable, animal-loving people who have the time and enthusiasm to help us with our rescue work.

You are able to register to be a foster carer, or volunteer through this link.

  • Do you help other animals?

Maggie’s Rescue is a rehoming organisation for cats and dogs. If you need to surrender, or have found an injured animal that isn’t a cat or dog, contact your local veterinarian or council for advice.

For injured native wildlife, contact WIRES Rescue Line on 1300 094 737.

  • My animal is sick/needs desexing, who should I call?

As Maggie’s is not a shelter or pound environment, we don’t have access to an onsite veterinarian. If your animal is in need of medical attention, please call your local veterinarian for advice.

If you need financial support for veterinary bills or desexing, you can speak to your local veterinarian or council for advice on financial assistance or any subsidies available.

Whilst we are only able to assist with veterinary work for animals in our care, you can contact our team for advice on organisations able to offer financial assistance.
