Mickey

12 year old Mickey was surrendered because his owner needed to go into a retirement home and therefore could no longer look after him.

Unsurprisingly for a senior experiencing such a big life change, Mickey initially found adjusting to his new foster environment challenging.  However with love and patience he managed to adapt and soon this clever boy realised he only had to use his big, beautiful eyes and everything would be rosy!

A few weeks in, it became apparent to his foster carer that Mickey was experiencing a few problems.

A trip to Summer Hill Vets confirmed that poor Mickey had a heart condition, various allergies and to complicate matters further required some work on his bottom!

Thanks to the wonderful vet care he received and the vital funding that Maggie’s managed to raise, Mickey’s conditions have since stabilised.  Now he’s a happy dog enjoying life to the full and sometimes forgets he’s a senior!

And his new home?

Well in spite of his noisy snoring, his foster family fell for him in a big way, knowing right from the onset that he was a forever member of their pack.

A few words from Anne, his former foster and now forever home.

“The moment Mickey came into our lives we knew we would have trouble letting him go.

“He’s loving, silly and stubborn and makes our lives so much richer.”

He was the best kind of (foster) fail.”
